Gnaphosidae are the ground spiders. They are extremely fast nocturnal hunters. They hide during the day in silken retreats under rocks and logs. Pictured on left is Herpyllus ecclesiasticus, also called the parson spider. Pictured on right may be a gnaphosid, but the ID is not positive. |

Corinnidae are the antmimic spiders. These used to be considered part of the family Clubionidae (sac spiders). These nocturnal hunters often run with groups of carpenter ants. This adult male spider might be Castianeira cingulata. |

Clubionidae are the sac spiders. They are active hunters that build silken retreats in curled leaves and other areas. This adult female spider with eggs was found in Omaha, NE. She might be Clubonia riparia. |
